The Royal Agricultural Society of WA has over 1,800 members who elect up to 28 Councillors to sit on the Council. Councillors are required to retire at the end of their four year term, and if still eligible can re-nominate.
Councillors give their time voluntarily and are responsible for the conduct and management of the RAS. The Councillors' key role is to provide year-round and Show-time chairmanship of the Perth Royal Show Sections that make up the Royal Show.
The RAS President, Vice President and Treasurer; and the Executive, Finance and Project Committees are elected by the Council.
Council also appoints the Chief Executive Officer of the RAS who is a full time paid employee responsible for the day-to-day management of the organisation.
The RAS employs 41 permanent staff who support the Chief Executive Officer. The main departments are Corporate and Member services, Finance, Commercial (comprising Perth Royal Show Business and Claremont Showground Venue Sales), Human Resources, Marketing and Communications, Perth Royal Show Sections and Asset Services (grounds).
In addition to the RAS Councillors, management and staff, thousands of volunteers provide their time, skills and knowledge to make the Perth Royal Show the wonderful community event that it is.
