RIPP Basil Eric (Eric)

1927 – 2009

Eric Ripp single-handedly revolutionised controlled atmosphere storage and the fumigation system in grain storage which remains successful today in protecting harvested grain from insects, saving farmers millions of dollars in chemicals.  This system has also been introduced to all eastern states grain handling silos.  Eric Ripp worked for Co-operative Bulk Handling Ltd for over 30 years.  His contribution to the grain industry has been enormous and is still ongoing.  He was the first person to come up with the concept of the need for an Australian Grain Institute.
