The Wild-Western Australia: Cowboy Core Comes to Perth for The Muster

April 9, 2024

PRESS RELEASE

Western Australians are in for a treat, with Cowboy Core set to take over Perth with the return of The Muster rodeo and country music festival at the Claremont Showground on 13 April 2024.

Cowboy core is currently riding high on the cultural zeitgeist with musical icons Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift seemingly driving a Western renaissance – with global Google searches for the term “cowboy hat” skyrocketing by 212.5 percent following Beyoncé’s Superbowl advertisement.

Over recent months we’ve seen cowboy core trending on TikTok, nods to the Wild West during fashion month from the likes of Stella McCartney and Isabel Marant and it-girl Bella Hadid soft launching her relationship with a cowboy – wearing a black cowboy hat styled with denim in the now-viral social media images.

But whilst cowboy core might be new to many, it is deeply rooted in the culture of many Australians. The Muster, Perth’s biggest rodeo and country music festival, is a celebration of this – bringing country to the city and shining a light on some of Australia’s top country talent.

Returning for its second year, The Muster offers a welcoming and authentic experience to country fans new and old with a celebration of the Wild-West Australiana style. Bringing together top Australian rodeo and country music talent, entertainment, local food and drink vendors and quality Australian made country wares, The Muster offers an authentic cowboy experience right in the heart of Perth.

The Muster will play host to a competition circuit rodeo with around 190 riders showcasing their skills in bull riding, barrel racing, breakaway, novice bulls, bareback and saddle bronc. Featuring amongst the riders will be young talent Cash Kestel and Coby McCarthy who represented Australia at the 2023 World Mini Bulls rodeo competition in Texas, Amanda Oversby – Australia’s only female pickup rider in the arena and WA’s own Isaac Leclair.

Rodeo Rider, Coby McCarthy, said: “My favourite part of the rodeo is the crowd and the amount of people that want to show up to watch and just have fun. Any rodeo in a highly populated place makes it just ten times better. I’m excited to show off my skills to everybody.”

The event will also play host to top musical talent with Aussie-born, Tennessee-based Morgan Evans headlining a roster of quality Australian country artists. Fresh off the back of the release of his Sydney Opera House live recording, and Australian Idol finale appearance, ARIA Award winning Morgan Evans will bring his authentic country sounds to The Muster. Morgan has been carving out his country career in the USA, touring with well-known artists including Taylor Swift and racking up over one million monthly Spotify listeners

Speaking on his return to Perth for The Muster, Morgan said: “I finished my last Australian tour in Perth and the shows were awesome, so when the invite to come down and play The Muster came through, I said yes immediately. I’m excited to be a part of The Muster, the lineup is great with a really strong Australian country artists and I’m really looking forward to returning to Perth.”

Country stars Travis Collins, Beccy Cole, Lane Pittman, Sara Berki and Perth’s own Emily Joy will join Morgan Evans for TheMuster lineup.

With the collective country obsession reaching fever pitch in 2024 The Muster at the Claremont Showground on 13 April 2024 offers the perfect, authentic country experience right here in Perth.
